The very spirits of volunteerism of today is are distorted, corrupted from its original essence. How it was distorted, corrupted? It was corrupted by the community bosses, who wanted to be in government positions.

During election campaign, the community bosses recruits and maintain, what they called “volunteers” but in fact they are paid to their services rendered whether how small or big is the amount. Of being a long practice, it was becoming the livelihood during election seasons.

The essence of volunteerism is now rooted in the middle of widespread poverty. The poverty or having no livelihood was abused by the community bosses and in fact by the government itself

On the other hand,

BAYANIHAN is a Filipino custom derived from a Filipino word “bayan”, which means nation or community. It is means “being in a bayan”, which refers to the spirit of communal unity, work and cooperation to achieve a particular goal. This is a helping one another most especially in times of need without expecting anything in return.

Even the refreshment or food needs after the bayanihan works is donated by from the community members.
