Marikina City Second District Representative Romero Quimbo denied the reports linking him to Delfin Lee of Globe Asiatique. Miro Quimbo was the former CEO of the Pag-IBIG Fund.

Quimbo said he was sacked by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in March 2009 before Delfin Lee’s Globe Asiatique started its housing projects, the report said.

Lee, owner of Globe Asiatique, was arrested in connection with “ghost borrowings” at the Pag-IBIG Fund amounting to over P7 billion for housing projects in Pampanga.

“The reason why there were spurious loans is not because of the program it was because it was not implemented properly, in fact the ombudsman recognized that the safeguards needed to protect the institutions were there but unfortunately those safeguards were set aside,” the lawmaker said.
